Lodwick classification (original)

Grading growth/aggressiveness of lytic lesions on radiograph according to border pattern.

• I - geographic border
  • IA - geographic, well-defined, with sclerotic rim
  • IB - geographic, well-defined, no sclerotic rim
  • IC - geographic, ill-defined margin (transition zone)
• II - moth-eaten pattern
• III - permeative pattern

It is superseded by Modified Lodwick-Madewell Classification in 2016, which added two new concepts, temporal changes (3A) and radiographic occult (3C).
